Michael Goodman, BFA

With over four decades of experience in real estate development, Mr. Goodman stands as a pillar of leadership within the industry. As Chairman and founder of the esteemed Tri City Group, he has shaped the company's trajectory since its inception.

Chairman, Tri City Group of Companies

  • Michael Goodman has spent more than 40 years involved in all facets of real estate development and provides the overall vision and leadership for the Tri City Group.

    The original Tri City business was founded by Henry and Ruth Goodman in the 1960s and grew to include real estate development, asset ownership and private lending. Since joining the family business, Michael has expanded the scale of the real estate portfolio, while also expanding the private lending business.

    Michael has been directly involved in all the acquisitions and developments related to the businesses. He has experience with property management, land development & rezoning, construction (commercial and residential), and private lending underwriting.

    Currently, the Tri City Group manages over $40 million in real estate assets of its own and approximately $30 million in mortgages, part of which is owned by investors in Tri City Mortgage Fund.

    Michael has been an active philanthropist for over 20 years and is a leading supporter of social justice causes. He provides resources and funds to non-profit organizations through the Ruth and Henry Goodman Fund

Sandy Oh, MBA

Since joining Tri City in 2011, Sandy has led the Real Estate division and oversees daily operations of the private lending business.

President & TriCity Fund Manager

  • Sandy Oh brings together over 20 years of business experience in private and public companies to Tri City Group. In the 1990s, Sandy worked as Project Manager for Okim Holdings, retrofitting several downtown Vancouver buildings, including the St. Regis Centre in 1997. Throughout the 2000s, he was involved in the technology sector, incubating start-up firms, working with investment banks, and developing private businesses for public offerings on the Toronto Ventures Exchange.

    Between 2006 and 2010, Sandy was Vice President of the Newgen Group, a major real estate development and management consulting firm in BC, and helped assemble, finance and manage a portfolio of properties for the firm and its clients. The commercial portfolio was brought to over $20 million and included branded hotels and mixed-used commercial buildings in Nova Scotia. Sandy performed the initial investment analysis and advisory, arranged the financing, and then installed management systems.

    Sandy has been with Tri City since 2011, first heading the Real Estate division and then overseeing daily operations of the private lending business. He currently handles all incoming mortgage files and underwrites all the loans together with Vicky Guo and when appropriate, with the Credit Committee.

    During his time with Tri City, he has underwritten over $35 million in mortgages and managed over $40 million in real estate.

David Rushinko, CPA

CFO & Controller

Mr. Rushinko is a seasoned finance professional with over 30 years of dedicated experience in the accounting and finance sectors, bringing a wealth of knowledge and strategic acumen to the Tri City Group.

  • Mr. Rushinko brings over 30 years of accounting and finance experience to the Tri City Group. After graduating from the Financial Management Program at B.C.I.T. with honors, Mr. Rushinko started his career in practice working for Dunwoody & Company concentrating on setting up and computerizing accounting and management systems for small to medium size private enterprises in addition to standard corporate and personal year ends and tax compliance. Mr. Rushinko was a member of the team to install Dunwoody’s customized internal accounting and management system known as DAMIS.

    Mr. Rushinko left to join a Dunwoody client, the fourth largest food service organization in the province, as Controller and Director of Administration. The company was subsequently sold to a national food service operator.

    Mr. Rushinko, having completed his CMA Designation, continued to work with several companies, in various industries ranging from retail sales, production, and manufacturing of both industrial and consumer products and service industries. He has worked to raise venture capital for a startup software company, and arranged financing from $100,000 to $50 Million.

Omar Lalani, M. Eng 

Vice President of Real Estate

Since joining the Tri City Group in 2011, Mr. Lalani has served as the land development consultant for notable projects such as Paradise Trails, Sierra Ridge, and Big Lake. He specializes in the public and political consultation process.

  • Mr. Lalani has been working in the building and development industry since 2002 after he obtained his undergraduate engineering degree from McGill University. Following that, he worked as a draftsman and project manager for small to medium-sized developers, having managed infill developments and historic building renovations in Brooklyn and Berkeley. He obtained his master of engineering degree from McMaster University in 2007.

    After graduate school, Mr. Lalani took some time to appreciate the technology side of the development industry and was the interim President of SpaceDox, a Seattle-based software company delivering online, real-time plan review systems for builders, architects and developers to communicate with city planners

    Mr. Lalani has been with Tri City Group since 2011. He is currently the land development consultant for Paradise Trails, Sierra Ridge, and Big Lake. He is most interested in the public and political consultation process and how various stakeholders can help move and shape a project before a shovel touches the ground.

Jim Wall

CCO, COO, Office Manager

Jim is a seasoned C-level executive with over 25 years of management roles throughout several industries in both public and private organizations.

  • Jim has over 25 years of experience in C-Level Management as a senior finance and accounting professional. He has acted as a CEO, CFO, CCO, Controller, GM, and Corporate Director for several public and private companies and has been involved with financing throughout his career, from IPO and startups to senior-level capital raises. His compliance experience is also extensive with all regulatory bodies, as is his Vancouver and Toronto business network.

    Jim was certified as a CMA (BC), and holds 2 degrees from UBC including Commerce and BPE (Administration), and a Cost Accounting certificate from BCIT. He also holds the Exempt Market Dealer's and Officers' Partners', and Directors' Course Certification. Additionally, he s trained extensively in IT, digital media, and computer technologies.

    He worked in China as a lead financial consultant for a CEDA industrial expansionary team, was a professional drummer, and has 5 years of Mandarin education.

Since 2005, Mr. Wong has served as a trusted Senior Advisor to the Tri City Group, bringing nearly three decades of collaboration and insight to his role alongside Mr. Goodman.

Winston Wong, 

Credit Committee Member

  • Mr. Wong is a 20-year veteran of the finance industry, having served in various positions including Marketing Manager for Standard Chartered Bank (HK), a multi-billion dollar financial services firm throughout the 1970s and 1980s. In 1989 Mr. Wong was selected by the Magusta Group, a prominent Hong Kong conglomerate, to come to Vancouver and start Magusta Developments Canada Ltd. Under Mr. Wong’s direction, Magusta Developments built 100’s of high-rise and low-rise residential units in greater Vancouver and today has now completed over 1,600 multifamily and single-family units across B.C. and Alberta. Magusta Developments continues to be a major real estate player in Western Canada.

    Mr. Wong has been a trusted Senior Advisor to the Tri City Group since 2005. He has been a co-investor and advisor to Mr. Goodman for nearly thirty years. In addition to acting as Senior Advisor for the Real Estate Division of Tri City Group, he also sits on the Credit Committee for Tri City Fund Management Ltd., which evaluates all loans over $1 million.

    Mr. Wong has also held board positions with several public companies, including Avcorp Industries Inc., the largest aerospace manufacturer in BC and Pyxis Capital Inc. Mr. Wong is also currently a Director of New Business Development for Desjardins Financial Security Independent Network, for which he has been a member agent since 2004. As well as this, Mr. Wong is a Director of CUAM Greater China Opportunities Absolute Return Master Fund, managed by China Universal Assets Management, a fund manager in China. Mr. Wong sits on the Board of Richmond Hospital.

John Orr, P.Eng.

VP of Real Estate Development

John’s dedication and innovative approach have not only followed in the footsteps of his father but have also paved new paths in the construction and engineering industry, reinforcing his reputation as a leader committed to excellence and sustainability in building.

  • John is from a long line of carpenters and builders. He remembers as a child being on his grandfather’s job sites straightening nails and being a “Go-‘fer” and has had every role in construction from pounding nails to raising 10's of millions of dollars for construction projects.

    John grew up at the feet of Harold Orr, CM, PEng, his father, a mechanical engineer, who was instrumental in researching and developing energy-efficient housing development in Canada. Harold worked for the National Research Council of Canada and his innovations, which include new insulation techniques and materials, air sealing and efficient ventilation, blower-door testing, and heat recycling, still serve as worldwide models for energy-efficient housing today some 40 years later.

    Naturally like father, like son, John has developed a keen interest in energy-efficient housing and learned much from dinner time conversations and working with Harold building energy-efficient structures. His first real job was working on a framing crew building super-insulated housing and when he was in university, he built a super-insulated home in Yellowknife. In 1994 John earned his civil professional engineering status and is currently registered in British Columbia and Saskatchewan and has been registered in; Alberta and Ontario. John has managed the construction of sewer, water, and road work for 6 subdivisions, poured over 50,000m3 of concrete, established 8 Redi mix batch plants, excavated over 60 million m3 of earthworks (cut and fill), built 9 bridges, managed a piling foundation company, 3 hydroelectric stations, estimated in excess of 200 buildings, and has been the construction manager on 3 large projects with a combined value in excess of $800m.

Vicky Guo, BA

Designated Individual & Director

Ms. Guo has been with the Tri City Group since 2017 serving in different capacities within the private lending division.  She is licensed as a mortgage broker (lending) and as an exempt market dealer (investing) and did her schooling in the UK. 

  • Vicky originally hails from Shanghai and is also fluent in Mandarin.

    After graduating from university in the UK, Vicky began her career in research and consulting for a number of companies across Europe, Asia and North America. Over the last 8 years, Vicky has become a private lending broker specialist working on residential, commercial and construction mortgages across B.C. Her areas of lending specialty include: pre-sales, bridge, equity refinance, working capital and debt consolidation. As an exempt market dealing representative, Vicky has also been involved in retail equity capital raising for the mortgage funds.

    In her spare time, Vicky likes travelling to the Okanagan Valley and Vancouver Island to explore the province’s best wineries and farms.
